Pickup Pre Amp Acoustic Guitars Eq 7545r
These outstanding little powered pre-amp units include all of the elements you need to add a pickup to your acoustic or cigar box guitar. The rod piezo offers outstanding tone and pickup range, and is made to be mounted under the saddle of a general acoustic guitar, but it may be effortlessly built into a cigar box guitar bridge as well, or mounted inside the instrument. These may be mounted into a guitar with no soldering necessary (though of course a good deal of cutting, drilling and other alterations would be needed). Please note that the plastic face is curved, so as to fit the curved side of a popular acoustic guitar. Here are the specs for these pre-amps:Features: Four-Band EQInput Impedance: 2.2 MegaOhmsFreq. Small issues By Michael Daniel The shrink wrap over the pickup plug requires a slightly larger drill bit than stated in the instructions. The other thing I feel is important to do is deciding WHERE exactly to drill that hole. The way I do it is before I drill, I turn it upside down, and carefully look at where the strings travel over the bridge, so you get a good placement.Understanding the sensor pads are pretty wide, but conceivably you could be off enough, to influence volume. So what I did while it was upside down was I put a little pencil mark where I was going to drill,I then proceeded with the install. The other issue is sliding the edge of the EQunit along the body’s edge to find the place where curvature of the guitar matches the EQ unit.the farther forward you choose, the better it’s going to look. The way I did the cut, I practiced on a couple pieces of scrap wood first. Then I did the cut for real.I used a drenel type carbide disk, remember too, the hole needs to be just large enough to accommodate the EQ unit, but small enough to still screw the 4 screws in when down. Another thing you CAN do to pin down the plastic border that the screws go through, is to CAREFULLY heat it up with an embossing gun, and manipulate it down while warm. Don’t do this unless you know what you’re doing. It can help with a smaller gap due to cutting too close to the flatter part of the guitar body . This unit performs perfectly! It’s EQ is very good, and it has a battery tester built in. I’ve had this for 3 weeks now, and am very happy with it. I put it in a Tacoma Olympia . Plywood sides, but a solid top. I would highly recommend this as a lost cost, good quality option to upgrade your acoustic.

Good value By j The preamp unit is quite strong, capable of overdriving an amplifier. The EQ works fairly well though I wish it had more cut and less gain. When I use the faders to add signal (gain) in the bass, it does distort. I did notice some fuzziness in the sound which I think is the pickup itself. Definitely worth the price but probably not the best choice for a high end instrument. Probably not suitable for studio recording.

Cheap but works great By G. Thomas Installed this into an acoustic ovation. The fit wasn’t exact, but then I knew this when I bought it. I got it because it was cost effective. For a chip set up, it work pretty darn good. Don’t expect Fishman or Boss quality, but the down and out if you are public park player… no one will be able to tell the acoustic difference….not so in an indoor environment…. unless you add a little chorus and reveb…then it’s not bad…not bad at all.
